چکیده

Abstract Multidrug resistance due to the production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) is a major problem in human as well veterinary medicine. These strains appear animal and microbiomes can be source infection both healthcare, accordance with One Health theorem. In this study we examined prevalence ESBL-producing bacteria food-producing animals. We collected 100 porcine 114 poultry samples examine ESBL producers. Isolates were identified using MALDI-TOF system their antibiotic susceptibility was tested disk diffusion method. gene families phylogroups detected by polymerase chain reactions. The producers relatively high sample groups: 72 (72.0%) 39 (34.2%) isolates Escherichia coli chosen for further investigations. most common CTX-M-1 (79.3%). Most belong commensal E. phylogroups. could divided into three phylogroups, while distribution more varied. summary, are prevalent faecal animals, dominance group enzymes

Emergence of Escherichia coli producing extended-spectrum AmpC β-lactamases (ESAC) in animals

In both humans and animals, the spread of Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamases (ESBL)/AmpC producers has become a major issue, particularly due to the plasmidic dissemination of most of these genes. Besides, over-expression of the chromosomal ampC gene was largely reported in human and animal Enterobacteriaceae and, more recently, modifications within the coding region of the ampC gene [encoding Exte...

Prevalence of Extended-spectrum β-Lactamases-producing Escherichia coli from Hospitals in Khartoum State, Sudan.

OBJECTIVE This study aimed to determine the prevalence and assess antimicrobial susceptibility of extended- spectrum β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli isolated from clinical specimens of patients at hospitals in Khartoum State, Sudan. METHODS During April to August 2011, a total of 232 E. coli isolates were collected from various clinical specimens of patients. Isolates were identified, ...

Pathogenic Escherichia coli producing Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamases isolated from surface water and wastewater

To assess public health risks from environmental exposure to Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamases (ESBL)-producing bacteria, it is necessary to have insight in the proportion of relative harmless commensal variants and potentially pathogenic ones (which may directly cause disease). In the current study, 170 ESBL-producing E. coli from Dutch wastewater (n = 82) and surface water (n = 88) were characte...

Occurrence and characteristics of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) producing Enterobacteriaceae in food producing animals, minced meat and raw milk

BACKGROUND The impact of food animals as a possible reservoir for extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing Enterobacteriaceae, and the dissemination of such strains into the food production chain need to be assessed. In this study 334 fecal samples from pigs, cattle, chicken and sheep were investigated at slaughter. Additionally, 100 raw milk samples, representing bulk tank milk of 100...

Frequency of E. coli clinical isolates producing blaSHV and blaTEM extended-spectrum beta-lactamases

Introduction: Production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase enzymes (ESBLs) in E. coli creates many problems for patients. These enzymes are located on transferable elements and can hydrolyze penicillins, broad-spectrum cephalosporins, and aztreonam. This study aimed to determine the clinical isolates of E. coli producing ESBLs of blaSHV and blaTEM in the city of Zanjan. Methods: This cross...
